American Seoul is a short film based on the award-winning feature length screenplay of the same name written by Grace Rowe. Directed by Jason Moore and starring Grace Rowe, Nancy J. Lee, Jeanne Chinn, and Judy Jean Kwon, the short version has won numerous accolades and has screened at over a dozen film festivals worldwide.

The script spawned from Grace’s one-woman show, “The Grid Life,” a play about seven vastly different Asian American women living in Los Angeles.

Below is an excerpt from the one-woman show American Seoul was based on:

Hoping to reach a wider audience, Grace adapted the critically-acclaimed play into a feature script and won many accolades including: Best Screenplay at the 2002 Asian American International Film Festival in New York City, Finalist for the 2002 CAPE (Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment)/FOX Screenplay Contest, and First Runner-up for the Cynosure Screenplay Contest. Grace was also invited to both the Screenwriters’ and Producers’ Lab at IFP/West (now known as FIND Film Organization), and American Seoul was also the showcase film at the MTV/TRL Filmmakers’ Reception for the Asian American International Film Festival.
